if it worked beautifully in rollout. >> the obama care affordable care act has hit the high water mark in terms of opposition. because it had the terrible rollout. you had, you know -- >> but even that 55% are rooting for it. >> it was always like a 45/45 proposition for the last two years. the polls never really change a lot. now every day we go forward, it's going to get closer to working. plus all these benefits that have kicked in that they never want to talk about. we talked about kids under e age of 26 being on policies of their parents. you know, refunds for premiums that are too high. all that stuff is kicking in and it's basically taking root. which is why republicans hate that. i think they're going to back away from the repeal talk. because repeal now means taking a lot of stuff away. >> heard the other day a couple hours ago that he's pushed down. there is some secret new plan for paul ryan. anyway, the president's confronted the problems with the law's website. saying it would be vastly improved by december 1st which was yesterday. complaining about errors with registrations. but o

like they're running out of this tired rant even about obama care already. your thoughts. >> that's right. i think there's a streak of the evil other them, the mysterious other who is now in the person of president obama. and he wants to impose big government on the poor, free people of texas and everywhere else. i've known john cornyn for years, i've covered him for years. i don't think of him at heart as that kind of guy. he was a corporate republican. he was part of the george w. bush machine of compassionate conservatism years ago. but now he's playing to that crowd. and the fact it was a google hangout is significant. one of the things that's changed here is that you marry that long tradition of american fear of government, of resentment of the other, of conservative versus liberalism. you marry that us versus them with modern technology in the fact you can speak discreetly to your own crew and stoke up your own crew, wave the flag with them, and you have the tone of the republican party today. they're largely speaking to themselves. >> yeah. and on occasion they get caught,

the president for delaying some of the implementation of obama care. and then they attack him for pushing it out too early, the rollout of the exchange on october 1. wait a minute. is he guilty on both directions, bad for bringing something on time and bringing something later? these guys should check with each other about their indictments because they're 180 from each other. >> well, it makes them look sill eye. they kind of remind me right now of you know how we go to the conventions we have the protesters caged. and you let them vent and get that out of their system. >> a gravelly, former parking lot. >> i agree the negative is getting them nowhere because i wrote a column just about that. and president obama is wise to that. he realizes they've said no all along. i'm going to be mr. positive, mr. hope and change. but he's distracting from the comes that they have raised, the misleading of the american people about keeping what you want, all those things are still out there. >> do you think it's smart to call him a liar? >> i don't use that word. >> i avoid that word. i'm sure somebody will

's largest energy investor. our commitment has never been stronger. >>> if you still don't like obama care, and i know you don't, even though it's based on market based ideas of choice and competition in the private sector, then you should explain how exactly you'd cut costs and cover more people and make insurance more secure. you owe it to the american people to tell us what you are for. not just what you're against. >> well, there's the president with a plaintiff plea to the right. the president made clear again that republicans have to do more than simply be against whatever he's for. they've got to come up with a plan or something to help. he called out mitch mcconnell for his fight to repeal the affordable care act. >> if the senate republican leader still thinks he's going to be able to repeal this some day, he might want to check with the more than 60,000 people in his state who are already set to have coverage that frees them from the fear of financial ruin and lets them afford to take their kids to see a doctor. >> well some on the right are now pointing out that the republicans'

. oh, they're still talking trash about killing obama care. still talking about the debt, but guess what. they aren't talking about what they did with such bravado this september to october. suddenly the cat's got their tongue. or is it the calendar. with elections coming next year and those on the right with any iq have noticed the one time the democrats saw their numbers go skyward was when the republicans played stupid party and turned themselves into the anyone couple pops of the potomac and shut done the government. tonight we look at this strange new world, scared to death at the second there's talk of closing it the democrats will open up another big lead in public confidence. who would have believed it would only take a month to teach the tea party that no government is bad politics. david corn for mother jones and howard fineman for "the huffington post" both msnbc political analysts. i know there are still questions about febds. but this week when it looks like they might have a budget deal and january when the continuing resolution comes up for continuing, it looks like t

, like a lot of things in implementing fully obama care? >> to me there's an interesting thing here of what comes between those two points. if you look at the speech he gave on economic justice wednesday, clearly the president has big ideas, has a big agenda. he's not done with that. these are things he's discussed from the very beginning since he began running in 2007. to me what was interesting in watching your interview yesterday was when he talked about republicans. it's not he's completely resigned to the obstructionism, but i didn't get a sense of a lot of fight. he talked about being persistent. but i think if they want to rally -- and he referred to it. he has to be concrete in what he's to rally behind. take some of these grand ideas that he talked about on wednesday that he's talked about before whether it's raising the minimum wage, expanding head start to get investment going. he has more credibility now with these new employment numbers and making it concrete. sending bills to congress scene saying this is what we're going to fight for to give people next year motivatio

for obama care. for you folks to consider obama care as a measure of community in america. that's what motivates barack obama. he knows it's tough -- >> and he gave it up. >> the last 15 minutes of this extraordinary were extraordinary. i've never seen anything like it, where a president kind of unburdened himself to you about why he's in the ball game. and i thought he made a very compelling case for his own decency, whatever the screwups were managerially, and they were real. >> and chris, can i say, i felt like we saw two interviews with the president. in the first half of that interview, you saw a man who is incredibly frustrated by what i think he sees as the smallness of the debate in washington. where we don't talk about the big things, the big sweeping issues that matter to the country, or we boil it down to petty fights, frustrated incredibly with the republicans and with the media. but in the second half of that interview, i saw the guy that i first met in 2004, when he was essentially an activist, attempting to use politics to move forward grand issues, really big themes. so
